A professional indemnity underwriter is not a robot. Underwriting a corporate professional indemnity risk is anything but an exact science and the most successful underwriters require considerable intuition, skill and a broad knowledge of many different disciplines.

That's why for some corporate clients where there is a degree of complexity or the size of premium payment warrants, we can facilitate a meeting between our client and their insurance underwriter. These meetings can be highly beneficial for everyone. Firstly, it gives the underwriter first-hand experience of the risk they are insuring and it is also an opportunity for the insured to explain far more about their business and how they manage risk.

These meetings can make a real difference in helping build a good and often long term relationship between the Insured and Insurer, as well as helping to minimise the overall cost of the insurance.

The insurance broker is the insurance company's main route to the market and it's policyholders and this arrangement reduces expensive marketing and administration costs for the insurance company. They are open to business with many different brokers and this 'network' of brokers will deliver a steady stream of lucrative new business.

Brokers are insurance experts and speak the same insurance language as the underwriter. It's therefore much easier and more cost-effective for the insurance company to work with an insurance broker than it is dealing direct. This arrangement justifies lower premiums as well as the cost of the broker's commission.
